Every country, and here in the United States, every county has developed a music education program...or perhaps not?
When I was in school, all we were taught were a few songs. However, I was fortunate enough to be part of an instrumental program from the time I was 9 years old, and was able to play clarinet my whole school life.
Most schools don’t have a formal music curriculum. As a music teacher, I was told I could do anything I wanted to, and I sure did!
My classes all learned the keyboard, drums, guitar and any band instrument someone wanted to play as a result of many grants and donations. I could go on and on, but I wanted to hear from you.
Were you taught to appreciate classical music?
Were you taught how to play an instrument in school?
Did you sing songs?
