Dùng để chỉ vị trí 1 vật nằm bên trong một vật khác

2. On
Dùng để chỉ vị trí một vật nằm bên trên bề mặt một vật khác (có tiếp xúc). Bên cạnh hoặc dọc theo bờ sông. Chỉ vị trí bên trái hoặc phải.
Ex: Look at the picture on the wall
Cambridge is on the River Cam.
The book is on the desk
A smile on his face
The shop is on the left
My apartment is on the first floor
I love traveling on trains /on the bus / on a plane
My favorite program on TV, on the radio
3. At
Dùng để chỉ vị trí chính xác và cụ thể.
Ex: I met her at the entrance/at the bus stop.
She sat at the table
at a concert, at the party
at the movies, at university, at work
4. In front of
Phía trước của cái gì.
Ex: She started talking to the man in front of her.
The teacher stands in front of the students.
A band plays their music in front of an audience.
5. Behind
Phía sau của cái gì. (trái ngược với in front of)
Ex: I hung my coat behind the door.
The police stand behind him to make sure he can’t escape.
The house is behind a mountain.
6. Between
Ở giữa 2 vật nào đó.
Ex: The town lies between Rome and Florence.
There are mountains between Chile and Argentina.
The number 3 is between the number 4 and 2.
7. Among
Ở giữa nhiều vật (nhiều hơn 2 và khác với between)
Ex: We are among the trees.
The goat is among a pack of wolves.
8. Next to, beside, by
Dùng để chỉ vị trí một vật nằm ngay sát bên hoặc liền kề vật khác.
Ex: The girl who is by / next to / beside the house.
At a wedding, the bride stands next to/by/beside the groom.
She walked beside/by/next to me as we went down the street.
9. Near, close to
Chỉ vị trí gần giữa 2 vật. Gần giống Next to, beside, by nhưng có khoảng cách hơn.
Ex: This building is near a bus stop.
Our house is close to a university.
We couldn’t park the car close to the office.
10. Across from, opposite
Dùng để chỉ vị trí của một vật ở trước hoặc đối diện một vật nào đó nhưng ở giữa chúng thường có một vật gì đó như một con đường hoặc một cái bàn…
Ex: He is standing across from the bookstore.
The chess players sat opposite each other.
11. Above
Chỉ vị trí một vật ở phía trên một vật khác và không có sự tiếp xúc giữa chúng (khác với on)
ex: A bridge is above the lake.
Planes normally fly above the clouds.
The light is above the clock.
12. Under
Dùng để nói về cái gì bị che phủ, che khuất bởi cái gì và có tiếp xúc với bề mặt của vật ở trên. Đôi khi, người ta dùng underneath để thay cho under nhưng nó ít phổ biến hơn.
Ex: The cat is under the chair.
Monsters live under your bed.
13. Below
Dùng để nói về cái gì thấp hơn (về vị trí) và không có tiếp xúc với bề mặt của vật ở trên. Đôi khi người ta dùng beneath thay cho below nhưng nó ít phổ biến hơn.
Ex: Miners work below the surface of the Earth.
The plane is just below the the cloud.
14. Inside
Chỉ vị trí nằm bên trong một vật nào đó.
Ex: The gift is inside the box.
His money is inside the safe.
15. Outside
Chỉ vị trí của một vật nằm bên ngoài vật khác.
Ex: He is outside the house.
The police is outside the office.
16. Round, around
Dùng để chỉ vị trí xung quanh một vật hay địa điểm
Ex: They go around the park.
The wheels on the bus go round and round.
