The following passage contains errors. Identify and correct them.
1 An environmental history of mankind would have to be a history of the
2 exploitation of abundant natural resources, the spiral demand for these
3 resources, and their inevitable depletion. As humanity spread over the
4 globe, leaving colonies in their wake, essential resources such as coal, oil
5 and even fresh water were extracted through industrial mining and
6 manufacturing operations that had a massive impact on the Earth itself.
7 That was once a plethora of riches has inexorably declined, and
8 entrepreneurs are now looking into the limits of land, sea and sky; the new
9 target is the stars and, more especially, asteroids. Spinning around the Sun
10 are tens of thousands of asteroids, and scientists have convinced that
