1. The Huong Pagoda sightseeing area consists of 18 beauty-spots including
temples, pagodas and caves scattered in four hamlets Yen Vi, Duc Khe, Hoi Xa
and Phu Yen which belongs to Huong Son – My Duc of Ha Tay Province, and now
Hanoi. Most of them were discovered and built in the 17 th to 19 th century on the
side of mountains or in the valley.
2. The freshwater Lake Ba Be is the only significant natural upland lake in the
North of Vietnam. From Thai Nguyen City, you drive along Highway 3 to the
towns of Bac Can and Phu Thong. After another 16 km you will arrive at Ba Be
which is about 225 km from Hanoi. Ba Be is some 145m above sea level, 8km
long, 3 km wide and about 20 -30 m deep.
3. 45 miles northwest of Ho Chi Minh is the town of Cu Chi, one of the most
famous battlelgrounds of the Vietnam war. It is here between the early 1940’s and
mid 60’s that the North Vietnamese and the VietCong built the main sections of
tunnels that became a vital catalyst in their victory over the Americans and South
Vietnamese. It is also claimed to be the most bombed and devasted area in the
history of warfare after the Americans used all their firepower to destroy them.
4. Dien Bien Phu is a town established in the middle of the 19 th century. Its remote
location in the extreme northwest of Vietnam deterred both visitors and
development, apart from becoming a French garrison during the colonial period,
The major attraction is battlefield, its associated museum and relicts, and more
recently, the largest statue in Vietnam erected to commerorate the 2004
anniversary.
5. Ba Ria – Vung Tau is located in the Southern Vietnam, to the northeast of the
Mekong Delta. There are beautiful beaches, such as Back, Front, and Dau Beaches,
located in the southern part of Vung Tau. Con Dao Island approximately 90 km
southeast of Vung Tau, has a dense forest with various kinds of animals. The sea in
this area is home to various valuable marine species. Economic strengths are
marine resources.
6. Fansipan Mountain is located 9 km southwest of Sapa Townlet in The Hoang
Lien Moutain Range. Fansipan is branded ‘the Roof of Indochina’ at the height of
3,143m; Fansipan is to be approved as one of the very few eco-tourist spots of
Vietnam, with about 2,024 floral varieties and 327 faunal species. The summit of
Fansipan is accessible all year round, but the best time to climb there is from mid-
October to mid-Novemvber, and again in March.
