Tet usually starts in late January or early February and is held on the first day of the first lunar month. Before Tet, everyone begins to prepare for this day by cleaning the house, shopping for new clothes, candies, jam, wrapping Banh Chung (square-shaped sticky rice cake with meat and green beans inside), or Banh Tet (round-shaped sticky rice cake with meat and green beans inside). On the 1st day of the new year, all family members gather and say best wishes to others. In addition, children will receive good luck from adults with red envelopes with money inside with the blessings that that child will grow up healthily and achieve high academic achievements.
