THE PRESENTATION OF THE OCEAN POLLUTION PROBLEM
It’s a pleasure to see you. Today, we are honored to have an opportunity to share you our presentation.
Many years ago, the Earth used to be a green, pretty planet. But now, the number of people is increasing day by day that causes many bad consequences. We are facing plenty of environmental problems: noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution, deforestation, light pollution….. and today we are here to say about the ocean or water pollution, one of the most serious problems.
First of all…. about the benefits of the ocean, 70% of our planet is ocean and that’s also the percentage of oxygen comes from the ocean. Deep in the ocean, there are some mineral deposits, oilfields, ... The ocean also provides us with aquatic resources such as shrimp, fish, crab... The diversity of marine life is a great advantage of tourism that the sea gives us. We also have the June 8th called World Ocean Day for people to be grateful of these benefits.
However, there are still many reasons why the ocean is polluted, including plastic waste, oil spills, and untreated sewage. First of these reasons is plastic waste. Every year, a large amount of plastic waste is discharged into rivers and lakes. It’s expected that by 2040, the whole world will have 13 million tons of plastic waste, endangering everything on our planet. Plastic waste has a long life-cycle, so it's hard to decompose. Here we would like to some examples as well aspictures of troubled sea animals.
Then we contiue to move to the next problem, oil spills. Oil is very useful in human life, but when there is an oil spill, (may be from factories or maybe from ships) it becomes extremely polluted. This not only pollutes the water, but it also kills marine life.
The next cause of water pollution is from chemicals from companies, chemicals from the company, the countryside and the hospital. These factors empoison the water.
Finally, raw sewage pumped directly into the sea causes the habitat of species to be polluted, depletes oxygen contents in water, badly affects human health.
And this is a picture of coral reefs before and after being affected by pollution.
What happens when there is no fish left in the sea? If that happens, the ecosystem will be broken, greatly affecting the world.
So, to protect the marine environment, we must release trash in the right place, then try to gradually reduce using plastic wares or not to use them if we can. We should use bio-products, reuse the plastic things if we can and the last but not least, we have to raise people awareness. If we do all well, the water will clean, the creatures will be and people can live in a cleaner environment.
After sharing the above, we hope that we will together keep the ocean environment unpolluted.
Saving the environment means saving our lives.
Thanks for listening!
