VI. Read the passage carefully and choose the correct answer. Cu Chi is located at the threshold of Sai Gon and adjacent to the revolutionary base. Cu Chi played an important role in the two wars of resistance against the old and new colonial powers. Cu Chi was an 'underground village' with its labyrinth of interlaced tunnels having a combined length of more than 200km. The main tunnel is 60 – 70 cm wide and 80 - 90 cm high. Above the tunnel is a layer of earth about 3m - 4m thick, enough to sustain the weight of 50-ton tanks or heavy artillery as well as the destruction of bomb§ up to 100kg. Although it is ?an underground communication network, the tunnel is enlarged here and there into rooms large enough to hold large meetings, a medical station or art performances. Those who had set foot in that tunnel network. should greatly admire the talent, determination and endurance of the communist guerillas. The soil in Cu Chi. was as hard as stone, but with such rudimentary handtools as hoes and shovels, they had dug and removed tens thousands of tons of earth and stone, and camouflaged the openings so well that nobody could find them. Read the following passage and mark the letter A, B, C, or D on your answer sheet to indicate the correct answer to each of the questions from 3 to 7.If you are a comic book fan or just love free things, you are in luck because Saturday, May 6 is Free Comic Book Day. As the name indicates, it is the day when retailers across the globe will give out free comic books to anyone that walks into the store.Celebrated on the first Saturday of May, the annual event, which began in 2002, is the brainchild of retailer Joe Field. The owner of Flying Colours Comics & Other Cool Stuff was inspired by the success of similar events like Free Cone Day and suggested the idea to retailers, publishers, and distributors. He believed it would make people, both young and old visit their neighborhood store and revive interest in comic books. Over the past sixteen years, retailers have given away over 12 million comic books and the numbers are only growing. Not every comic book in the store is free. However, with 50 specially published titles to choose from, there is something to suit every taste. Even if none of the free offerings catch your fancy, a visit to the store might still be worth the effort.
