University education in Vietnam is not mandatory, but graduation is essential to getting a job. Admission tests are held in mid-July each year. In 2011, 163 universities and 223 secondary schools were established in Vietnam, as well as universities and research institutes. Many universities specialize in these fields, such as medicine, law, and education. The Vietnamese curriculum is between 4 and 6 years old. The curriculum is the main program of the first two years.
