The story begins one evening when two young girls talk about their previous weekend holiday, when Katie Embry (played by Amber Tamblyn) and several friends rest at a mountain hut. During the conversation, rumors of a cursed video tape were mentioned. The other girl, Rebecca 'Becca' Kotler (played by Rachael Bella), said that anyone watching the tape will get a phone call with whispers: "You will die in seven days." ("You will die in seven days"). Then, exactly 7 days after watching the tape (to the exact minute), that person will die. Suddenly, Katie confessed in horror that she had watched the video with her friends exactly seven days earlier. After a series of inexplicable phenomena, including the fact that the TV turned on automatically with a buzzing sound, Katie died mysteriously while Becca was suddenly blind. No one knows what caused Katie to die, but this caused Becca to be mentally ill.
