They gave him a packet of medicine (named APTX 4869), but the poison did not kill him, only made his body shrunk into a child. Therefore, he has to change his name to Edogawa Conan and lives with Ran - his best friend and Ran's father is the fuzzy detective Mori. However, even in a child's body, he still helps the police with the invention of Dr. Agasa Hiroshi.
