There are many reasons why I choose to study English instead of other languages. First, English is undeniably an international language which people use widely from all over the world. If I want to reach out to the open world and have more opportunities in my life, I really need to learn this language. The more I can learn about it, the fewer barriers I have to face when communicating with foreigners. Second, English is pretty easy to learn. Unlike Chinese or Japanese, English shares a similar alphabet with Vietnamese. Besides some of the diacritic difference, the main vowels and consonants are almost the same. Therefore, we can learn the vocabulary faster and remember them longer. Third, I think English is an interesting language. We have countless ways to express about one thing, and I love the use of slang in English. For me, it is bright and elegant, and I feel happy whenever I have a chance to talk or read in English. For the advantages that it can bring, I think every young people nowadays should spend some of their time to learn about it.
