Tet is a national holiday and it is an opportunity for all Vietnamese to have a good time thinking about the old year and the next. On the occasion of Tet, spring fairs are held, streets and public facilities are brightly decorated and most of the shops are crowded with Tet shoppers. At home, everything is cleaned, traditional dishes, other dishes, soft drinks, flowers and betel nut are placed on the ancestral altar with incense sticks lit up. The land sweep is performed when a lucky guest comes to visit and the children receive happy money in red envelopes. Tet is also a time for peace and love. Tet is an opportunity for people to return home after the pressures and stresses from the working and studying environment. Tet is not just an ordinary holiday, it is the culture and lifestyle of the Vietnamese people because its profound meaning is sacred and important.

Tet is the most special holiday of the year in Vietnam. Before Tet, people usually clean and decorate their homes. People go shopping for Tet, they buy candies, fruits, ... and especially a peach tree or apricot tree to decorate the New Year. At home, every is tidied, special food is cooked, offerings of food, fresh water, flowers and betel are made on the family altar. Besides, most of the streets also are decorated beautifully with colorful lights and flowers. During Tet, people often go out, visiting each other and wish each other best wishes. In Tet holiday, children have money from adults. It's great!. Tet includes not only joy but also long-standing event in people’s soul as it helps one grow up through experience. I love Tet very much !!!
