Skippyjon Jones is a children's picture book series, written by Judith Byron Schachner. SJ and the big bones is a part of this series. It's about the Siamese cat named SJ, who lives with his sisters and his mother. Because of having unusually large ears, an equally large head and an unusually small tail, he thinks he is a Chihuahua. There are 2 things that Sj crazy about: digging and dinosaur. The story starts whit a normal day of SJ: buries Darwin's bones, comes back to his house, assembles his Skippysaurus model, bounces around his room and starts to imagine.... SJ is really an imaginative boy. He and his imaginary Chihuahua friends, Los Chimichagos come to a forest. They sing, dance all their way. After a while, they come to a place that has a lot of dinosaurs. They start to fight against a T-rex. And they lost, of course. But, all just is a dream. Although the book is funny and wonderful, some reviews criticize Skippyjon Jones’ depiction of Latinos and use of mock Spanish.
