* Advantages
1. It is a source of security for members (members believe that they have people on whom they can count on in times of trouble and even in good times)
2. It engenders unity in society (The blood relationship that exists among all the cousins, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, etc., brings about peace and this peace leads to unity that extends into the larger society.)
3. It gives us supports from family members.
4. Socialization is accomplished by more people.
5. It cultivates and carries on family cultures and traditions.

1. Some family members become lazy.
2. There is struggle over who inherits what.
3. There is an interference in marriages and other relationships
4. There is too much burden on a few individuals
5. There are some misplaced leadership roles
