Monday 14th April
I haven’t written in my diary recently but I wanted to write about something ... NASA has an online TV channel! I didn’t know that! But I found it today, and you can watch the world on it from space. The International Space Station has got cameras and if you go into the NASA website, you’ll see the film from the ISS at that moment! It’s fantastic! One day, we’ll all be able to go up there and look at our planet with its beautiful oceans and forests! I read two books by astronauts, recently: Chris Hadfield and Tim Peake. They both say that the world hasn’t got borders. You can see the mountains – the Atlas Mountains, the Andes, Mount Fuji, Kilimanjaro – and you can see cities, lakes, deserts and rivers like the Yangtse from space, but you’ll never see a border. It’s one big blue, green and white world. And we live on it together. I liked this description, because when you read the newspaper sometimes the world is only about people. Now I will always think of the colours from space. They also say that you’ll see a lot of lights, lights on the Mediterranean and on the South Atlantic and the Gulf of Thailand. There are a lot of people fishing in those places, and at night they use lights to attract fish – and you can see the lights from space! I would love to see that, one day! But space tourism is a little expensive now. Maybe one day I will go to space, and I’ll look down at the ice and snow in the Arctic Circle.
