In our modern-day, as we began to develops in technologies, it's also making those more accessible towards many peoples, including child. In one article from BBC, they had mentioned this:
"The study, from King's College London, says such addictive behaviour means that people become "panicky" or "upset" if they are denied constant access.
The youngsters also cannot control the amount of time they spend on the phone.
The study warns that such addictions have "serious consequences" for mental health."
How shocking! Indeed, it is estimated that 24% of 3 and 4-year-olds had their own tablet, and 15% of them were allowed to take it to bed. The BBC mentioned that some early research suggests touch-screen may be impacting negatively on children's sleep and attention. This had proven to be true, by many researchers. They even raised the question about it. As mentioned, CTV had said
"As well as trying to establish the point at which children are getting their first taste of digital life, the study also aimed to understand how parents are integrating these devices into their children's lives -- how are they being used and for which reasons?". They also previously mentioned, "As such there is a concern that their popularity is growing faster than our understanding in terms of potential ill effects, especially for younger users in terms of health, well-being and social development." It is being confirmed with these that phone usage is greatly influenced by the current epidemic -- COVID-19, as the numbers of user increased. So it is still being debatable, when-ever if you should let children to use phone daily. Both side of the debate still have point, but for me, I would rather say no. As computers and many forms of technologies are getting better, why not switching that to a more convenient way of transferring what the phone can give? That's what HanoiTV and the Department of Education and Training of Hanoi had done. They hosted lessons on television! I'm quite excited to see more collaborations towards this.
