Air pollution in Vietnam continues to rise at an alarming rate and affects economies and people’s quality of life especially, in big cities like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh. Industry, transportation, coal power plants, and household solid fuel usage are major contributors to air pollution in Vietnam. For example, there are days when people find it hard to see clearly on the street because of the smoke of the vehicle at rush hours. Air pollution even causes serious health problems including stroke, heart disease, lung cancer, and respiratory infections. The solutions to this problem will start with raising the awareness of people about how to protect the environment and use more public transportation instead of private cars. In addition, companies and factories must have environmentally friendly manufacturing processes.
