Families in Vietnam have revolutionized the making of the traditional Tet sticky rice cakes ( Chung cake). Legend has it that one of the princes of Vietnam’s first royal family invented the recipe four to five thousand years ago. Made from very basic ingredients including sticky rice, beans, pork, the cake beat other luxury offerings at the kings' contest and has become the inevitable part of Vietnamese Tet ever since.
- Every year, family and relatives and neighbors should gather at someone’s house to prepare Chung Cake for Tet.
- The older will teach the young about the recipes and tips in making Chung cakes and they are more than happy to share.
