This Swedish masterpiece from 2008 is not just a horror film, it’s not just a romantic drama - it’s a beautifully made period piece, depicting Sweden in the 1980s. The film is based on a book of the same title, written by John Ajvide Lindqvist.
The Americans made their own version a few years later, called Let Me In, because they can’t be bothered to read subtitles. But I wish they knew just how much they are missing out on because of this mindset.
Films should be watched in their original versions and subtitled rather than dubbed, because there’s sooooo much more to a good film than just an interesting story. The remake doesn’t even come close to the original, so if you’re going to watch it, please chose the original Swedish verion
