Tet, also known as the Lunar New Year, is the largest traditional festival in Vietnam. Tet is usually from late January to early February. Before Tet, Vietnamese people prepare many things for three main days. They clean the house and decorate it with flowers like kumquat or peach blossom. A large amount of food will be purchased before Tet to make traditional dishes. Banh Chung, Banh Tet, Gio cha, Xoi and Jam, ... and candy are must-have during Tet. During the Tet holiday, people visit their relatives' homes and give them wishes. However, the Vietnamese believe that the first home visitor to decide the luck of their property for the whole year, people never enter anyone's house on the first day without being invited first. Another custom is to give lucky money, to be put into a red envelope as a symbol of luck and to wish a new age. Traditionally, the elderly will give children and the oldest in the family good fortune. However, today anyone can give it to anyone including friends, parents, neighbors,...Besides, Vietnamese people often go to temples and shrines to pray for health, wealth, success, ... Tet for Vietnamese people is the happiest year of the year, family members have gathered together, it is a meaningful message of the Chinese New Year festival.
