Most of the ethnic minorities live in the mountainous areas in the north, the the Chinese border to the mountain Truan Son in central Vietnam, the areas that have experienced heavy fighting in recent wars. Their lives are so specific as they only account for a small number of population in our country. First, they almost live in simple wooden houses with very simple facilities. However, some factors, such as the using of electricity, modern medicine, education, increase of tourism, created benefits for ethnic minorities.
Second, they are often easily indentifiable differences in language, physical appearances and traditional clothes. Therefore there could be discrimination which could hurt them.
Third, They have a long history of tribal walfare and many of these groups are semi-nomadic. In addition, there are so many village celebrations, in which they usually drink rice wine.
Last but not least, there is still one appointment of a child after reaching a certain age, usually an early age, which ruins the children's life and push them to struggle with difficulties in life too soon.
In short, there are still so many drawbacks in ethnic minorities' life. Thus, he Vietnamese government is trying with subsidies, better health care, accessibility and education to give ethnic residentsa better life.
