Floriade is the largest festival in the Southern Hemisphere help at Commonwealth Park in mid-September every year with the participation of many tourists and local people. In 1988, to welcome Australia's 200th anniversary and Canberra's 75th birthday, landscape designer Christiaan Slotemaker de Bruine proposed a large flower exhibition. Since then, this festival was born. The name Floriade is derived from the Latin word "florist" with the meaning of decorated with flowers. To prepare for this festival, millions of flower pots have been carefully cared for since February.
