Ruồi giấm có bộ NST 2n=8. Quan sát 1 tế bào ruồi giấm đang thực hiện quá trình phân bào nguyên phân lần đầu tiền với diễn biến như nhau, người ta đếm được trong các tế bào có 128 NST đơn đang phân li về 2 cực của tế bào.
