Chicken is very close to Vietnamese, and almost every house in the countryside has some chickens in their gardens. Human raises chicken mainly for their meat and egg. The rooster is different from the hen with colorful plumage, long tails and shiny feather on its body. The most prominent feature of a rooster is the big red comb on his head while the hen has smaller comb with lighter color. Both rooster and hen have a flap of skin under their beaks called the wattle. Chickens use their sharp claws to dig the soil and use their beaks to pick up small worms and seeds to eat. Despite having a pair of big wings, chickens cannot fly for a long distance. They just can only fly for a short distance like over a gutter or onto the lower branches of the trees. At some countries, people even use roosters in the chicken fights, and it is a form of gamble. Chickens have appeared in our life for thousand of years, and they are so
familiar to us.
