I grew up with Doraemon, and this cartoon taught me a lot. The film has an entertainment plot. It is an interesting program to develop children's creativity with "bogus" treasures. The show follows a recipe, which begins with Nobita's troubles often caused by himself; having Doraemon's treasure fix these problems, but then it gets misused and thus causes other problems. Sometimes, movies will break out of that formula, and teach much more profound, emotional values. I remember episodes of Nobita facing loss, going through the past to seeing his great-grandmother again, or episodes of Doraemon coming back to the future. I really appreciate what the author did. Those episodes are really heavy with complex emotions. Besides, this series also teaches about friendship. All the main characters have shortcomings in character, but the group of friends has learned to accept each other sincerely. Nobita is a lazy and compassionate child, Doraemon is a good friend who always helps Nobita in all situations.
