The Egyptian pyramids are ancient stone pyramids in Egypt. A total of 138 pyramids have been discovered in Egypt as of 2008, most serving as tombs for Pharaohs and queens during the Old and Middle Kingdom periods. The first known Egyptian pyramids are located in Saqqara, northwest of Memphis. Among them, the Pyramid of Djoser is the oldest, built between 2630 and 2611 BC during the Third Dynasty. This pyramid, as well as the surrounding complex designed by the architect Imhotep, is considered to be the world's oldest monolithic structures. from a few thousand, 20 thousand to 100 thousand people. The most famous Egyptian pyramids are located in Giza, a suburb of Cairo. Some of the pyramids of Giza are considered to be some of the greatest ever built.The Khufu Pyramid at Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid and the only ancient world wonder in existence.

The three are named the great pyramid of Khufu (Cheops), the pyramid of Khafre (Khafra) and the pyramid of Menkaure. The Pyramid of Khufu at Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid ever built. The pyramid of Menkaure has three smaller pyramids that are right next to this main structure and are called the Queen’s Pyramids.The pyramids at Giza attract great tourist attention every year. Out of all the three pyramids at Giza, only the pyramid of Khafre retains some parts of the originally polished limestone casing near its pinnacle. To the naked eye, the pyramid of Khafre looks to be the tallest, but in reality the pyramid of Khufu is the tallest of them all. Nearby, visitors can see the huge sculpture of the Great Sphinx. There are also many cemeteries and a village where the workers lived. The Pyramids of Giza are the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the World.
