customs and traditions play an important role in our family. We maintain our own customs and traditions to strengthen each member's sense of belonging. First, there is one tradition that my family follows on Lunar New Year's eve. My grandparents, my parents, my brother and I always gather in the living room and watch the TV show "Tao Quan". When the clock strikes 12, we have a special meal. Well, my mom cooks a cake and she puts a small strawberry in the cake and then we cut the cake up and everyone gets one piece. The person that gets the piece with the strawberry gets good luck for the entire year. I really like that one. After that, my brother and I will receive lucky money from my grandparents and parents. Then we talk a lot about happy events that happened during the past year and everyone's plans for the new year. We go to bed after having an enjoyable time. I love Lunar New Year's Eve. It's a joyful time that brings my family together. The second one is for the 28th of June or Vietnamese Family’s Day, my family has a big barbecue and everyone comes around, we eat a lot of food, and we play games, sometimes football, sometimes basketball or video games. I feel pretty happy. It’s a time when I can spend with my family and sometimes my friends. It brings us together I think. Well, I love this custom because it brings the family together and brings lots of special memories to us. Uhm, I do love these two customs. Yeah, it makes me feel very happy. It’s a joyful time when everybody expresses love and acceptance, so it’s very nice. I think it’s important to do things as a family because it’s good to pass down traditions. It makes you feel like you belong somewhere. And it’s just nice to have something to celebrate.
