INVERSION IN ENGLISH (PART I)

 

1. INVERSION IN QUESTION (Đảo ngữ trong câu hỏi)

• Ex1: She goes to school.   =>   Does she go to school?
• Ex2: She is the General Director.   =>   Is she the General Director?
• Ex3: She has seen the Grand Canyon.   =>   Has she seen the Grand Canyon?

 

2. INVERSION WITH CONDITIONAL SENTENCES (Đảo ngữ trong câu điều kiện)

1. Câu điều kiện loại 1:

 

If S + V (s/es), S + will/can/may + V

=>       Should + S + V, S + will/can/may + V

 

     * LƯU Ý: Dùng “should” để nói về khả năng xảy ra ít chắc chắn hơn

• Ex1: Should she come late she will miss the train.
• Ex2: Should he lend me some money, I will buy that one.

 

2. Câu điều kiện loại 2:

 

If  S + V(ed), S + would/could/might + V

=>        Were + S/ Were + S + to V, S + would/could/might + V

 

     * LƯU Ý: Dùng “were to” để nói về khả năng xảy ra ít chắc chắn hơn.

• Ex1: If I were you, I would work harder.     =>    Were I you, I would work harder.
• Ex2: If I knew her, I would invite her to the party.     =>    Were I to know her, I would invite her to the party.

 

3. Câu điều kiện loại 3:

 

If S + had + V_PII, S + would/could/might + have + V_PII

=>       Had + S + V_PII , S + would/could/might + have + V_PII

• Ex: If my parents hadn’t encourage me, I wouldn’t have passed that exam.

          => Had my parent not encouraged me, I wouldn’t have passed that exam.

3. INVERSION WITH NO AND NOT ANY (Đảo ngữ với NO và NOT ANY)

No	+ N + auxiliary V + S + Verb (inf)
Not any	+ N + auxiliary V + S + Verb (inf)

 

• Ex: No money shall I lend you from now on.

        =>   Not any money shall I lend you from now on.
