Trạng từ tần suất (Adverb of frequency) là một trong những dạng của trạng từ trong tiếng Anh. Đúng như tên gọi của nó, trạng từ tần suất (Adverb of frequency) diễn tả mức độ thường xuyên của một hành động.
1. Các trường hợp sử dụng trạng từ tần suất:
- Trạng từ tần suất được dùng để diễn tả mức độ thường xuyên của một hành động (thường khi, luôn luôn, ít khi…).
Ví dụ:. Jane is always late. (Jane luôn muộn giờ.)
We seldom go out at night. (Chúng tôi hiếm khi đi ra ngoài vào đêm khuya.)
- Trạng từ tần suất được dùng để trả lời câu hỏi với: “How often?” (Có…thường?).
Ví dụ :They sometimes go to the zoo.(Thỉnh thoảng họ đi sở thú.)
We hardly ever see you at home. (Hầu như không khi nào chúng tôi thấy anh ở nhà.)

3. Vị trí trạng từ tần suất:
Trạng từ tần suất thường xuất hiện ở 3 vị trí: sau động từ to be, trước động từ thường, và sau trợ động từ.
- Trạng từ tần suất đứng sau động từ to be
Ví dụ: Tim is always late for class.
(Tim luôn đến lớp muộn).
- Trạng từ tần suất đứng trước động từ thường:
Ví dụ: I usually visit my parents.
(Tôi thường về thăm bố mẹ.)
She sometimes writes to her son.
(Thỉnh thoảng cô ta có viết thư cho con trai cô ta.)
- Trạng từ tần suất đứng giữa trợ động từ và động từ chính:
Ví dụ :I have never been abroad.
(Tôi chưa bao giờ ra nước ngoài.)
He doesn’t always check his motorbike before starting.
(Anh ấy luôn không kiểm tra xe máy trước khi khởi hành.)
Lưu ý:
Ngoài các trạng từ chỉ tần suất, ta còn có các cụm trạng từ chỉ tần suất như: everyday (mỗi ngày), every week (mỗi tuần), every month (mỗi tháng),…; once a week (mỗi tuần một lần), twice a month (mỗi tháng 2 lần), three times a year (mỗi năm ba lần) …; etc. Các cụm trạng từ này thường đứng cuối câu.
Ví dụ:
I go to swimming three times a week. (Tôi thường đi bơi ba lần một tuần.)
She visits her parents every week. (Cô ấy đến thăm ba mẹ mỗi tuần.)
