I, SO SÁNH BẰNG
- So sánh bằng là so sánh cái này như cái kia
S + to be/ V + as + adj/ adv + as + (S + tobe/ V) + O = S + to be + the same + (noun) + as + noun/ pronoun
Ex: I try to work as hard as everyone else
- Trong câu phủ định “so” có thể được dùng thay cho “as” :
Ex: Your cat is not as/so pretty as mine
II, SO SÁNH HƠN
- Short Adj: S + to be + adj + er + than + Noun/ Pronoun
Ex: The red dress is prettier than the black one.
- Long Adj: S + to be + more + adj + than + Noun/ Pronoun
Ex: Nobody does this job more skilfully than he does.
- Sau than có thể có 2 trường hợp:
- Nói đầy đủ chủ ngữ và động từ:
Nam is taller than I am. → sau than có chủ ngữ vị ngữ: I am. - Nói tắt động từ:
Nam is taller than me. → sau than là: me
III, SO SÁNH NHẤT
- Short adj: S + to be + the + adj + est + Noun/ Pronoun
Ex: Nam is the tallest student in his class.
- Long adj: S + to be + the most + adj + Noun/ Pronoun
Ex: This is the most difficult problem in the book
IV, SO SÁNH KÉP:
- Short adj: The + S-adj-er/ S-adv-er + S + V, the + S-adj-er/ S-adv-er + S + V
Ex: The cooler it is, the better I feel.
- Long adj: The + more + L-adj/ L-adv + S + V, the + more + L-adj/ L-adv + S + V
Ex: The more carefully he studies, the more confident he feels.
*) NOTE:
- Những tính từ ngắn kết thúc bằng một phụ âm mà ngay trước nó là nguyên âm duy nhất thì chúng ta nhân đôi phụ âm lên rồi thêm "er" trong so sánh hơn và "est" trong so sánh nhất.(ex:hot-->hotter/hottest)
- Những tính từ có hai vần,kết thúc bằng chữ "y" thì đổi "y" thành "i" rồi thêm "er" trong so sánh hơn và "est" trong so sánh nhất(ex:happy-->happier/happiest)
- Những tính từ/trạng từ đọc từ hai âm trở lên gọi là tính từ dài,một âm gọi là tính từ ngắn.Tuy nhiên,một số tính từ có hai vần nhưng kết thúc bằng "le","et","ow","er"vẫn xem là tính từ ngắn (ví dụ: slow--> slower)
B: VẬN DỤNG
1. Her daughter is................her (beautiful).
2. Summer is....................season of the year (hot)
3. That dog isn't....................it looks (dangerous)
4. In the past, people were....................than today (polite)
5. It is...........today than it was yesterday (cold)
GIẢI CHI TIẾT:
1. Her daughter is as beautiful as her. Con gái cô ấy cũng xinh đẹp như cô ấy. Đây là dạng so sánh bằng
2. Summer is the hottest season of the year. Mùa hè là mùa nóng nhất trong năm. Đây là dạng so sánh nhất
3. That dog isn't as dangerous as it looks. Con chó này không nguy hiểm như bề ngoài của nó. Đây là dạng so sánh bằng phủ định
4. In the past, people were more polite than today. Trong quá khứ, con người lịch sự hơn ngày nay. Đây là dạng so sánh hơn
5. It is colder today than it was yesterday. Thời tiết hôm nay lạnh hơn hôm qua. Đây là dạng so sánh hơn
C: BÀI TẬP
1. Mary is 10 years old. Julie is 8 years old. Mary is (old)............................Julie.
2. The Alps are very high. They are (high)..........................mountains in Europe.
